PLATFORM
Bonnie is a centrist who sees valid arguments on issues from both the left and the right. Her platform remains flexible because her main goal is to ensure that Battle River–Crowfoot maintains a strong and independent voice in the House of Commons.
Pierre Poilievre should not be allowed to lose his riding and then come here to remove our duly elected and sworn-in Member of Parliament just so he can run again. To him, Battle River–Crowfoot is nothing more than a means to an end, and under his leadership, this riding risks losing its chance to truly be heard in Parliament.
That’s why Bonnie is running, to stand up for the people here.
She also understands that any of her stated plans, listed below, are subject to change based on the will of the majority in Battle River–Crowfoot. Bonnie knows that as a Member of Parliament, she works for her constituents, not the other way around.
With decades of service to Canada, both her own and a deep family tradition of it, Alberta separation is a non-starter for Bonnie. She believes strongly in the importance of a united country where every province has a voice and where solutions are found through dialogue, not division.
Bonnie understands the frustration many Albertans feel with Ottawa and strongly believes that the causes of Western alienation need to be taken seriously, and addressed. But she also knows that separation would only create deeper economic, social, and security challenges for families here. She is committed to fighting for Alberta’s fair treatment within Confederation and ensuring rural voices are heard at the federal table.
For Bonnie, unity is strength, and decisions about Alberta’s future should never be influenced by foreign interests or external pressures. They should be made by and for the people who live and work here every day.
Having fought bush and grass fires and assisted in multiple evacuations, especially of livestock, Bonnie knows firsthand the real and growing impacts of climate change. She has seen how extreme weather events threaten lives, farms, and entire communities across Alberta.
However, she also believes that a carbon tax, which makes life more expensive for everyday Canadians, is not the answer. Policies need to provide Canadians with financial breathing room while supporting practical ways to reduce our environmental impact.
Bonnie knows that environmental issues go beyond just carbon footprints. From microplastics now being found in our food, water, and even our bodies, to soil and water contamination threatening our agricultural future, these challenges are complex and deeply interconnected.
There are no simple solutions to complex problems, and Bonnie knows an extra tax alone won’t solve the climate crisis. She is committed to finding balanced, effective policies that protect the unique beauty and health of our land and people, without punishing hardworking families and small businesses in the process.
Responsible gun ownership is a way of life in rural Alberta. It’s about safety, livelihood, and tradition. Not crime.
As your Independent MP, Bonnie will:
✅ Protect Lawful Gun Owners
Stand up for farmers, ranchers, hunters, and sport shooters who use firearms responsibly. Bonnie believes blanket gun bans targeting law-abiding citizens do nothing to address actual crime.
✅ Focus on Crime Prevention
Support policies that tackle illegal gun trafficking and organized crime, not rural families who rely on firearms for predator control or livelihood.
✅ Advocate for Practical Regulations
Push for common sense gun laws that keep communities safe while respecting the rights of responsible owners. This means clear regulations that do not criminalize everyday rural practices.
✅ Bring Rural Voices to Ottawa
Ensure Ottawa understands that responsible firearm ownership is part of life in Battle River–Crowfoot, and that policies must reflect the realities of rural Canadians.
“Investing in our communities is about more than just building roads and bridges. It’s about building a future we can be proud of.”
As your Independent MP, Bonnie will:
✅ Advocate for Fair Access
Ensure Battle River–Crowfoot receives its fair share of federal infrastructure funding. Rural communities often get overlooked, and Bonnie believes every town, farm, and village deserves safe roads, reliable water systems, and modern facilities.
✅ Support Rural Priorities
Push for grants that address local needs first, such as rural road upgrades, bridge repairs, clean drinking water, and expanded broadband internet so farmers, businesses, and families can thrive.
✅ Promote Transparency and Accountability
Advocate for clear reporting on how infrastructure grants are spent to guarantee they deliver real value to taxpayers and create local jobs.
As someone who has spent her life in rural Alberta, Bonnie knows that family farms are the backbone of our communities and economy. She believes farmers deserve fair policies that keep them independent and thriving, not pushed out by corporate consolidation.
Right now, local independent veterinary practices are being bought up by multinational corporations, often backed by foreign venture capital firms. These corporations then turn around and inflate the prices they charge ranchers and pet owners. Veterinary services are essential, and many veterinarians want to stay independent, but are burning out trying to keep up with demand. To stop the corporate takeover of veterinary services, Bonnie will push to expand the number of spots funded in veterinary programs, and for legislation that sets out scheduled fee ranges for services, so these multinational corporations cannot price-gouge family farmers, inflating the cost of raising livestock. Bonnie supports publicly funded agricultural research that empowers local farmers with better yields, disease resistance, and climate resilience without burdening them with endless royalties or corporate control. She stands against policies that allow large multinational corporations to monopolize land and production at the expense of family farms.
As your Independent MP, Bonnie will advocate for:
✅ Research funding that prioritizes farmer-led innovation ✅ Protection against corporate monopolies in agriculture ✅ Policies that keep Canadian farms in Canadian hands
Bonnie believes that if you own something, you should have the right to repair it.
For farmers and ranchers in Battle River–Crowfoot, this is critical. Modern farm equipment is often locked behind manufacturer software and restrictions, meaning simple repairs turn into expensive and time-consuming service calls. During seeding or harvest, waiting days for a dealer-approved technician can cost thousands of dollars and put entire operations at risk.
Right to Repair isn’t just about agriculture. It affects everyone, from small mechanics trying to keep local businesses alive, to families forced to replace electronics and appliances that could easily be fixed if parts and manuals were available.
As your Independent MP, Bonnie will:
✅ Fight for fair Right to Repair legislation that allows farmers, small businesses, and consumers to fix what they own
✅ Support policies that reduce unnecessary waste and keep money in local economies
✅ Stand up to big corporations that use repair restrictions to exploit everyday Canadians
“Rural Albertans deserve the freedom to repair their own equipment and keep their businesses and families running without unfair corporate barriers.”
For Bonnie, human rights are human rights. She believes no group has the right to impose its will over another, and that respect and dignity must be at the core of how we treat each other.
She does not believe the government has any place in regulating how people manage their own bodies, their health, or their personal choices. This includes reproductive rights, gender identity, and how individuals choose to present themselves.
Bonnie is committed to protecting the rights and freedoms of all Canadians, ensuring everyone can live safely and authentically without fear of discrimination or interference.
